Rationale
For this brief, I wanted to create a clear and informative design to help manage all the different classifications and the sub categories within them. I wanted the layout to be same across most pages so the reader would be able to see the changes and differences between each classification. I tried to keep the examples used in each classification the same style e.g. -
As the section opener, I wanted the "Aa" to be the dominant feature on the page (and spread) as the differences between classifications can be so detailed, it could potentially not translate to the reader. I also chose red as it was a striking colour that caught your attention when it's printed in such a large amount.
I also took the time to utilise the 12x12 grid as I thought it gave more options to place elements on the page while still looking like a cohesive document. I kept the same Typology grid in mind when planning the typeface specimen. I wanted the typeface specimen to look like one of many that could accompany the Typology book.
